Precision Micromilling & Nano-Scale Patterning
Beyond hole drilling, materials can be precisely shaped through high-accuracy milling, enabling virtually any geometry or pattern. With micron-scale cut widths—and even sub-micron kerfs for ultra-thin materials—complex components can be reliably manufactured with exceptional precision.
- Blind features achieve depth resolution within a few percent of the target depth
- Nanometer-scale precision ensures repeatability for production parts
- Nano-scale patterning as a subtractive process reveals underlying material structures
This approach allows detailed analysis using microscopy and spectroscopy techniques, with repeated processing enabling 3D reconstruction via serial sectioning or 3D tomography.

Advanced Surface Modification for Enhanced Performance
The surfaces of many materials can be precisely engineered to alter optical, chemical, and physical properties, optimizing performance for a wide range of applications. Common modifications include:
- Broad-spectrum, low-reflecting finishes for improved optical efficiency
- Diffractive surfaces that manipulate light with precision
- Chemically reactive sites tailored for specialized interactions
- Surfaces with enhanced adhesion for stronger material bonding
- Nano-scale patterning to achieve unique functional effects
Through cutting-edge techniques, these modifications unlock new possibilities in optics, coatings, and advanced material sciences.

Inspection
Clark-MXR maintains a suite of inspection tools including scanning electron microscopes and a 3D laser scanning microscope. Many of these tools are maintained in a cleanroom environment and we have daily verification to ensure our SEMs calibrations meet the highest level of gauging standards.
Advanced Measurement & Imaging Techniques
Our cutting-edge measurement and imaging technologies ensure unparalleled precision in material analysis and quality control:
- Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEMs) – High-magnification imaging for detailed surface and structural analysis
- High-Resolution Optical Microscopes – Crisp, detailed imaging for optical inspections
- 3D Laser Confocal Microscopes – Precise depth mapping and surface characterization
- Vision Measurement Systems (VMS) – Automated, high-accuracy dimensional verification
- Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) – Precise 3D measurements for complex geometries
Cleaning & Packaging
We have an on-site Class 100 cleanroom that contains multiple ultrasonic cleaning stations, a plasma cleaner, inspection equipment, and packaging tools that is only accessible by our specially trained personnel. All standard clean room protocols, including routine cleaning and maintenance are closely monitored and dedicated particle counter is used to validate we maintain those standards.
